Askern’s under-12s clinched the Goole and Thorne cup after a 1-0 win over Goole Town Tigers.
A hard-fought encounter saw good chances for both sides with Goole’s efforts coming from Richardson, Leak, Danntt and Parkinson.
Askern matched Goole’s persistence but were denied by the Tigers’ in-form keeper.
In the first ten minutes of the second half, Goole had to soak up the pressure from a dominant Askern side with midfielder Noon assisting the defence of Leetham, Dannatt, Whitely and Worth to keep Askern from scoring.
Goole rode out the Askern attack and applied their own pressure with Raspin breaking down the right and threading the ball through to Parkinson whose goal was denied by the Askern keeper.
Throughout the match, Tigers maintained the intensity in this fast game and gave 100 per cent in all areas of the park.
Further shots at goal for Parkinson, Haigh, Leak and Noon went unrewarded and in the fourth minute of injury time, Askern struck the killer blow as they won a corner.
Keeper Sutton cleared the ball off the line only for it to fall to an Askern player to score from close range with seconds to spare before the final whistle was a blown.
