It has been steady progression off the field at Rossington Main over the past eight years as chairman.

Eight years ago we basically had no facilities, only a shack as a snack bar with no seating area. Even the outside toilets where condemned. Getting women and youngsters to attend games at Oxford Street was almost impossible.

We now have a very welcoming bar and sports room which would grace a far higher league. Not bad for a club that has not received a penny in grants and is reliant on volunteers for all the work that goes into the club on a day-to-day basis.

May I take this opportunity to thank all of our committee members, volunteers, sponsors and supporters for making our growth possible. Long may it continue.

Going forward the club’s aim is to continue to improve the match day experience for our supporters.

Main are now the fifth best supported club in the Northern Counties East Leagues with growth of 75 per cent last season.

The committee and I would like to feel we can achieve promotion to the NCEL Premier Division within the next three years.

Off the field we are certainly well prepared and the pitch is certainly one of the best in the league.

Financially it may be unrealistic to look towards the Evo Stik League unless we can attract more sponsors. Maybe our manager Lee Holmes can bring in and develop a few Jamie Vardys!

In Lee we have a very young manager, a local lad, who seems to have been around for years. He was thrown in at the deep end at the start of last season when we felt we needed to go back to our roots by bringing in someone who knows most of the local lads.

He has played at a good level and personally I feel Lee’s passion and coaching ability can see Rossington Main progress as much on the pitch as off it.
