Teenager Liam Gaughan is one step away from another shot at the big time.

The 19-year-old, from Bennetthorpe, is through to the final of Samsung’s nationwide Win A Pro Contract competition; more than 5,000 youngsters entered.

He will be one of 22 players vying for a contract with Leyton Orient, Swindon Town or Wycombe Wanderers in next month’s final at Swindon’s County Ground.

Gaughan was released by Doncaster Rovers. He played for Armthorpe Welfare before moving to Evo-Stick League side Matlock Town last summer.
