A senior football team saved from the axe in the eleventh hour by an anonymous financial donation are appealing for experienced players.

Westwoodside Rangers FC nearly folded at the end of this season’s Doncaster Senior League following financial difficulties.

However, following an appeal in the Bells, the club received a cash boost from a supporter which meant the club could afford the league fees to compete in this year’s 2013-14 campaign.

The side, who play at Akeferry Road in Westwoodside and hosted Duffs Dynamos in a pre-season friendly recently, have begun their pre-season programme ready for the First Division but are keen for more experienced players from the Isle to join their ranks.

Manager Kev Blow is also looking for local help off the field. For more information is available in Thursday’s Epworth Bells (August 29).
