Manager Kev Blow hailed his Westwoodside Rangers side for their display despite exiting the cup.

Rangers faced South Kirkby Colliery - a side several leagues above Westwoodside - in the Doncaster and District FA Challenge Cup and were narrowly beaten 3-2.

Westwoodside’s goals came from Lee Barnfield, who opened the scoring following a superb team move, before Declan Bacon’s shot from distance later made it 2-1.

However, Kirkby rallied before half time to bring the game back level.

And heart-breakingly for Rangers, Colliery nicked a winner with minutes to spare.

Blow said: “I was one of the lucky ones to watch a fantastic effort by my lads.”

He went on: “The team can walk proud after a fantastic effort. I am extremely proud of all of the squad.”
