James Coppinger’s name will go down in Doncaster Rovers folklore.
On course to become the club’s all-time leading appearance maker, Coppinger’s Rovers career has coincided with the club’s most colourful and arguably their most successful ever period.
The 34-year-old fans’ favourite unveiled plans for his testimonial year this week, and he took time out to speak to sports writer Paul Goodwin about his time at Doncaster Rovers.

...why he stayed at Doncaster
...who he will be “forever thankful” to for bringing him to Doncaster
...which match was “one of the best moments of my life”
...how Sean O’Driscoll took his career to “another level” and “transformed” Doncaster Rovers
...his thoughts on Rovers’ now infamous ‘experiment’
...he re-lives his ‘surreal’ goal at Brentford that secured the League One title
...he talks about his desire to play on till he is 40 and ponders where he and Rovers will be in ten years’ time
...and picks out his favourite season, match, goal and the Rovers teammates he admired the most.
