Paul Dickov said he was disappointed at the departure of “a friend as well as a chairman” following the resignation of John Ryan.
The Scot spoke to the press after Rovers’ 0-0 draw at Barnsley, a game completely overshadowed by Ryan’s exit, news of which broke just before kick off.
“It’s a sad loss for the club because his enthusiasm and his passion for the football club were there for everybody to see, not just since I’ve been here but for the last 15 years,” said Dickov.
“He brought me to the club and I thanked him for that. I’m disappointed he’s stepped down, as are the players and the fans.”

Rovers released the following statement on Saturday evening.
“We can confirm that this afternoon the club received a letter from John Ryan resigning as Chairman of Doncaster Rovers.
“Everyone at the club would like to thank John for the outstanding work he has done as Chairman and for his hard work and efforts through the years.
“We hope he will remain a close friend of the Club and continue to show his support for Doncaster Rovers.
“Everyone at the club continues to work hard with the same ambition and drive as usual in order to achieve our aims and objectives.”
