Paul Dickov hailed his side’s performance in their derby day victory over Yorkshire rivals Leeds United.
Rovers found themselves 2-0 up following a David Cotterill thunderbolt and a Billy Sharp finish following a superb passing move, however, had to be at their best defensively in the second half as Leeds camped in the visitors’ half with Ross McCormack reducing the deficit.
“I’m delighted, I thought first half we were fantastic,” said Dickov.
“Second half, we’ve got to give Leeds a lot of credit, they put us under pressure but I thought we defended fantastically well.
“Two fantastic goals, David Cotterill’s got that in his locker, since he’s come back in he’s been outstanding.
“He’s shown his quality and ability to get that goal. The second goal was fantastic for different reasons, the amount of passes we had.
“And Billy Sharp does what he does best and finishes it off.”
Dickov went on: “We thought it was [a penalty after Richie Wellens went down in the area].
“We didn’t get it, but we’ve got the three points and I’m delighted.”
