BRIAN Stock is expected to play through the pain barrier in tomorrow’s crunch home clash with Cardiff City.

Rovers’ captain is nursing an ankle injury which requires surgery in the summer.

But he has trained as normal this week and will lead out a Doncaster side looking to end a five-game win-less run against the promotion chasing Bluebirds.

Defender James O’Connor is also set to return after a spell on the sidelines with a foot injury - although he may have to be content with a place on the bench as Sean O’Driscoll looks set to keep faith with the side that lost 1-0 at Bristol City on Saturday.

Rovers, who have won just one in 12 in the Championship, could move 12 points clear of the drop zone with six games to play if they win and results elsewhere go their way.

But defeat - and a victory for Sheffield United at home to Middlesbrough - would close the gap to just six points with second bottom Preston North End due at the Keepmoat Stadium on Tuesday night.
