HAVING listened to Doncaster Rovers’ fans’ forum on Rovers Player, I was greatly enthused that finally we have engaged the fans in the correct and proper fashion, says letter writer Martin Hall.
Quite clearly, this is an area, historically, Rovers have not been too proactive and the club needed to provide enhanced communications lines.
Thus the Forum for the Future was born and in the main both sittings were greatly attended and embraced.
The speakers representing Rovers included Dick Watson and John Ryan.
However, it was Gavin Baldwin, the new chief executive, who came across as the most impressive.
Gavin spoke with real enthusiasm and clearly is a man with answers on how to alter a loss making organisation and turn it into a vital cog in an ambitious two-year business plan, where any profits from the stadium will be ploughed back into team affairs.
The existing stadium model is being ripped up and it would seem Rovers want to involve the fans in order to identify new revenue streams.
Likewise the fans will need to contribute towards improving the main income lines and there will be a focus on improving concourse food and more competitive ticket pricing.
So Rovers enter a brave new world where a heavy focus will not just be on team affairs but off the field activities.
Moving forward it’s not just down to the club to make it all work, but also the surrounding public!
Martin Hall, Scawsby
