A furious Rob Jones labelled Doncaster Rovers' performance in the 3-1 defeat at Sheffield United 'unacceptable.'

Jones suffered his second defeat as caretaker manager as Rovers fell to goals from Chris Basham, Conor Sammon and Billy Sharp while Gary MacKenzie was sent off for the visitors.

And after keeping his players locked in the dressing room for more than 45 minutes after the final whistle, Jones revealed he had been forced to deliver a few home truths to his men.

"You can hide behind the fact we went down to ten men after 30-odd minutes but it's not acceptable," he said.

"I'm quite angry actually at the performance we put in.

"Yes we got back on level terms but it's mistake after mistake after mistake after mistake.

"I'm not having it any more.

"We started the game all right. Keshi Anderson looked menacing, Cameron Stewart scored his free kick and we could have gone in front before they did.

"They went in front after a mistake which is not pleasing at all.

"We got back into it, so you're thinking come on then, we'll have a go.

"But then there's another mistake for their second goal. From then on in, Gary gets sent off and you give yourself a mountain to climb.

"I expect better."

MacKenzie saw red after a high boot into the chest of Craig Alcock contesting a ball from a corner.

Jones admitted he had yet to re-watch the incident but did have sympathy with MacKenzie.

He said: "I haven't seen it again but my initial thought was that Gary was looking at the ball.

"If he's looking at the ball, how can he know where the player is/

"But I'll have to look at it again."
