On behalf of myself and the Supporters Club, we would like to wish you all a Happy New Year.

Besides us handing out the presents in the form of goals it has not felt too festive at the Rovers, and the unlucky defeat at QPR did little to quell the hangover from the night before.

We hit in-form Ipswich at the wrong time on Boxing Day but at least we stemmed the generosity by getting a draw against Millwall on Sunday.

The crowds at the two home games were very disappointing, figures not helped by the long distance the away teams had to travel. What happened to the FA showing a bit of common sense for these games?

It was not until I got to the game on Sunday that we were informed that fans producing voucher M could have received FREE tickets to the game for friends or family.

I’m not saying it would have improved the numbers but it certainly would have encouraged more to come to the game.

Looking back on 2013, I think everyone’s highlight was the championship winning victory at Brentford.

It was a game that will be long remembered by all Rovers fans. You just could not have written the script.

Our away form certainly got us promotion and sadly the Keepmoat is still not a fortress, but we have been blighted by injuries and the takeover rumours have been unsettling.

What’s in store in 2014? Well the January transfer window should be interesting to see if we are prepared to financially back Paul Dickov to stay in the Championship. Fingers crossed.

Our next away game is at Blackburn Rovers, another favourite for automatic promotion who have been beaten by our pub team.

Before that is a little matter of the FA Cup against Stevenage on Saturday. Both clubs will be looking to progress and the financial rewards could add to both clubs’ war chests.

Coaches to Blackburn dep Retford 10.30, Harworth 10.35, Bawtry/Rossington 10.45, Hare and Tortoise /Sprotbrough Ivanhoe 10.55, Infirmary 11.00, and the Keepmoat 11.15. Cost (for members) £14 adults, £13 oap and £12 under 16s. Add £2 for non-members.
