DEAN Saunders says reports that he has agreed a deal for St Etienne’s Moustapha Bayal Sall are wide of the mark.
One national newspaper claimed this week that the Senegalese midfielder had agreed to join Rovers in January.
But Saunders told the Free Press today that he had not even spoken to the player.
“He’s someone we’ve looked at but I’ve not spoken to him,” said Saunders.
“Bayal Sall is contracted to St Etienne and I’m not going to go down the road of talking about another club’s player.
“It’s certainly not the case that we’ve agreed anything with either him or his club.”
Any potential deal for Bayal Sall - likely to be a loan switch for the remainder of the season - is complicated by the fact that the player could feature in Senegal’s squad at the African Cup of Nations in January.
The powerful 25-year-old is currently out of favour at Ligue 1 side St Etienne.
