WINNING a season ticket has proven to be a bittersweet experience for Free Press Prediction League champion Lee Croft.
While basking in the glory of his triumph, the 20-year-old realises his prize has come at the cost of having to predict bad times for his beloved team.
He said: “I’m delighted to have won this but it’s been pretty difficult having to predict so many defeats.
“In the end, relegation was a bit of a relief after what has been a horrible nine months.
“We can look forward to hopefully being a lot more competitive in League One next season.
“It’s going to be hard, especially because it looks like there will be a lot of changes and not a lot of money but we should more than hold our own.”
Croft, from Stainforth, collected his season ticket from Rovers’ head of marketing Shaun Lockwood last week.
The University of Hull student saw off strong competition from Paul Mayfield, securing victory with just a single point margin.
The less said about the Free Press’ performance in this season’s competition, the better!
Final standings: 1 Lee Croft 28pt, 2 Paul Mayfield 27, 3 Martin Hall 24, 4 Jonathan Foster 15, 5 Free Press 13.
