HOPE springs eternal!
What a wonderful win over Forest on Tuesday night.
It was a great performance at the City Ground where in recent seasons we have enjoyed success.
In 2008 we won 4-2 at Forest and then went on an incredible run of winning seven out of the next eight games.
One hopes we can do something similar this time around.
Saturday’s trip to West Ham is a daunting fixture.
But I still think we are capable of getting a result.
The squad is just oozing class and quality - never more so than with the addition of Freddie Piquionne who scored an absolute screamer on his debut.
It was scored at a good time, just before half time, and set us up nicely to score a second through Kyle Bennett after a superb cross from El Hadji Diouf.
Luck is still perhaps not on our side as Kyle’s 25-yarder hit the inside of the post and came out to safety.
Peterborough had the luck of hitting the inside of the post and it going in but this is the fine line in football between winning and losing.
We are playing so well at the moment and the players are doing everything they possibly can to secure our fifth consecutive season in the Championship.
After Upton Park we have another ‘easy’ encounter with the rearranged home game with Reading on Tuesday night.
The Royals look like a good bet to go up automatically.
But hopefully we can end their impressive winning sequence.
Reading have been somewhat a bogey team for us but at home we fear nobody.
With your support I am sure Dioufy and the boys can do it.
As always I am appealing to the sporting folk of Doncaster and district to come out in force on Tuesday and really make a difference.
It can be a great ten days for us.
A result against West Ham would set us up nicely for three home games in seven days, in which we can rack up more points in the battle to beat the drop.
