DONCASTER Rovers triumphed in the Camp Nou last week - or at least one of the club’s most loyal servants did.
Rovers Community boss Eric Randerson (pictured left) won the unsung hero award at the Stadium Business Awards held at FC Barcelona’s famous home.
Randerson saw off competition from the US, Australia and Ireland to win the award, judged by a panel of global sporting experts who praised his ‘lifetime’s dedication to youth development programmes and teaching of essential life skills to some of the town’s poorest children.’
He was also described as a ‘one in a million, a true unsung hero that deserves some recognition after 30 years of dedication.’
Randerson has overseen the transformation of Football in the Community from coaching sessions to education, health and well-being and social inclusion, working with thousands of children and adults each year.
