RYAN Mason is set to hand Rovers a major fitness boost by returning to full training next week.
And Sean O’Driscoll has received more good news on the injury front - after Billy Sharp was told by a specialist he is unlikely to need surgery on his ankle.
Mason was carried off with ankle ligament and knee damage following a challenge from Tranmere’s John Welsh in the closing stages of last month’s 3-0 Carling Cup win.
But he has made good progress and could return to the squad for the home double-header with Crystal Palace and Hull City.
Sharp, meanwhile, is back running again after his surgeon gave him the all-clear to step up his rehabilitation.
