IMPOSING midfielder Herold Goulon has shaken off a hamstring strain in time to face Championship leaders Southampton.

The Blackburn Rovers loanee limped off during the second half of Tuesday night’s defeat at Millwall but is expected to start alongside Brian Stock and Simon Gillett in midfield.

Habib Beye, however, is rated only 50/50 as he struggles to recover from the dead leg he suffered at the New Den.

George Friend is ready to replace Beye at centre half after returning to full training this week.

But Dean Saunders will have to do without a host of others, including El Hadji Diouf, Pascal Chimbonda, Shelton Martis and Richard Naylor.

Rovers were today hoping to wrap up a short term deal for veteran Senegalese defender Lamine Diatta in an attempt to ease their injury worries.

Southampton, meanwhile, will be without arguably their best performer of the season so far as Richard Chaplow sits out the game with a knee problem.

Danger man Ricky Lambert was substituted in the closing stages of the Saints’ midweek win over Hull but the forward is expected to be fit to play.
