ROVERS’ fringe men are set to be handed the opportunity to impress in tonight’s Capital One Cup second round tie with Hull City.

Neil Sullivan, James Husband, Paul Keegan, James Harper, Robbie Blake and James Coppinger all come into contention to start against the Tigers.

Boss Dean Saunders said his players were “jaded” during the second half of Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Crawley and is likely to take the chance to rest a few of his squad.

Chris Brown is a major doubt with a hip problem, while Paul Quinn and Billy Paynter were also carrying knocks against Crawley.

Hull are without striker Matty Fryatt who has an Achilles problem.

AT THE TRAINING GROUND

Dean Saunders: “It was a disappointing result on Saturday but we’ve got to roll our sleeves up and go again.

“At the moment I’m pleased with the players. We’ve got a group of lads who are all trying hard and they’re all proud to play for the club.

“The determination is epitomised by Rob Jones.

“You get bad breaks in football and we had one on Saturday with the winning goal. But we have to move on from that.”

Rovers probable starting XI (4-4-2): Woods, Quinn, McCombe, Spurr, Husband; Coppinger, Keegan, Harper, Bennett, Blake, Paynter.

KEY MAN

James Coppinger is set to be handed a starting role against the side weighing up a last minute move for him before the transfer window shuts.

Coppinger has been a second half substitute in each of Rovers’ three league games after starting in the Capital One Cup tie with York City.

Dean Saunders admitted this week that he expects to recieve a bid for Coppinger before Friday’s 11pm deadline.
