The Star’s Rovers man, Liam Hoden, gives his verdict on the Doncaster players at Kenilworth Road

MARKO MAROSI 7

Little the keeper could do about any of the goals. Pulled off some decent saves and was alert throughout.

FRAZER RICHARDSON 6

Defended well enough but lacked legs to get forward and punish Luton’s vulnerability on flanks.

JOE WRIGHT 5

Rash challenge for penalty was and looked uncharacteristically rattled under Luton pressure.

ANDY BUTLER 6

Good physical battle with Danny Hylton and a fairly steady performance in the heart of defence.

CEDRIC EVINA 6

Got forward well in Rovers’ period of dominance but defensive frailties were exposed in second half.

JORDAN HOUGHTON 6

Solid again at the back of the Rovers diamond but struggled to keep tabs on McGeehan at the tip of Luton’s.

MATTY BLAIR 6

Architect of much of Rovers’ early pressure after returning to midfield but rather anonymous afterwards.

TOMMY ROWE 7

One of his more influential performances of the season in first half and tried desperately to make things happen in second.

JAMES COPPINGER 6

Another superb goal after a bright start but was bullied out of the game as Luton grew stronger.

JOHN MARQUIS 6

Should have scored mere seconds into the game. Struggled to make anything happen after Luton went ahead.

ANDY WILLIAMS 6

Likewise with Marquis, he missed a glorious early chance and had little say as the game wore on.

Subs used:

MATHIEU BAUDRY 6

Positive debut for defender as he came on into a reshuffled back three. Got forward very well as Rovers tried to push late on.

RICCARDO CALDER 6

Sent on to trouble Luton on left which he did but lacked in end product to unlock the hosts’ defence.

HARRY MIDDLETON

Used to stabilise midfield after switch to 3-5-2 but played during frustrating finish to the game for Rovers.

Subs not used: Ross Etheridge, Tyler Garratt, Liam Mandeville, Alfie Beestin.

LUTON TOWN: Christian Walton 6, James Justin 6, Scott Cuthbert 5 (Alan Sheehan 28 7), Johnny Mullins 6, Dan Potts 6, Olly Lee 7, Jordan Cook 6 (Jake Gray 38 7), Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu 7, Cameron McGeehan 8 (Alex Gilliead 89), Jack Marriott 6, Danny Hylton 6.
