Doncaster Rovers manager Darren Ferguson denies link with Posh duo

Darren Ferguson insists he will not be looking to sign players this summer from his former club Peterborough United.

Doncaster Rovers had been linked with Michael Bostwick and Marcus Maddison, both of whom will not be offered new deals by Posh.

But Ferguson rubbished the speculation and distanced himself from Peterborough players.

On the link with midfield duo Bostwick and Maddison Ferguson told The Star: “There’s nothing in that.

“I won’t be going trying to sign any Peterborough players.”

Midfield is a key area Ferguson has targeted this summer as he looks to re-shape his side for the rigours of League One following promotion.

Paul Keegan has been released with Harry Middleton placed on the transfer list while Rovers have decided not to take up the option of signing Conor Grant on a permanent basis, leaving Ferguson short of numbers in midfield.

The Rovers boss says he will be looking for added physicality in midfield next season.

On the transfer front, Ferguson is hoping to secure the signing of a left back in the next few days, following on from the permanent acquisition of Niall Mason last week.
