Federico Macheda is back at Doncaster Rovers - and Paul Dickov says just his name will strike fear into opposition defences.
The Italian striker is almost certain to go straight into Rovers’ starting line up for tonight’s basement battle with Yeovil after re-joining on loan from Manchester United.
Dickov said the 22-year-old, who will remain at Rovers until the end of December, had “kept his word” by returning to Doncaster despite interest from elsewhere.
And Rovers’ boss says his arrival has lifted everyone at the club.
“He creates panic amongst other teams,” said Dickov.
“Even just his name being on the teamsheet does that, because they know if Kiko gets chances he’ll put them away.
“He showed that with three goals in four games, and that’s when he wasn’t fully fit.
“As much as the onus was on Kiko to get goals, we noticed that it gave other players the space to play because the opposition’s emphasis was on keeping Kiko out of the game.
“He creates space for others.
“The really positive thing for me is, this time, we’re getting a fully fit Kiko.
“We don’t want to put too much pressure on him. But it’s given everyone a massive boost.”
