Our Doncaster Rovers columnist John Buckley has hit the back of the net for charity, with a helping hand from Ladbrokes.
Bucky’s charity bet, which ran every week in the Free Press last season, raised an excellent £320 for a very good cause.
The former Rovers winger’s chosen charity was Bluebell Wood and this month he visited their children’s hospice in North Anston to present his winnings to staff.
Ladbrokes kindly provided Buckley with a free £10 charity bet to place on Rovers every weekend, which the Scot could use on a single bet or split into two £5 bets.
Buckley said: “People might not think it’s a massive amount but every little helps.
“I think the bet that worked best last season was Rovers was to win and both teams to score.”
He added: “It was a real honour to visit the hospice and spending time there puts everything into perspective. The people there do an amazing job.
“Thanks also to Ladbrokes for their support.”
