Paul Dickov is convinced he is the right man to get the best out of Dany N’Guessan – because he knows how to manage Rovers’ new signing.
Dickov and N’Guessan played together at Leicester City and the Rovers boss says his previous experience of the French forward means their reunion should be a productive one.
“He was a young kid at Leicester when I was a senior pro,” Dickov told the Star.
“I used to chat to him a lot and give him a few rollickings as a senior pro but I put my arm around him as well.
“He probably had his best spell as a player when he played under Chris Powell at Charlton who, like myself, was a senior pro with him at Leicester and knows what makes him tick.”
N’Guessan signed a two-year deal with Rovers yesterday after leaving Greek side AE Larissa earlier this summer.
And Dickov believes the 27-year-old adds something different to his Rovers squad.
He said: “We’ve got Andy Williams’ movement, Nathan Tyson’s pace, Curtis Main’s bit of everything and the trickery of the wide lads but Dany will give us a different outlet.
“He’ll give the team a bit more pace than what we’ve got now because we rely a bit too much on Nathan.
“He’ll give a lot of power as well.
“Dany can play out wide or he can play upfront.
“He’s comfortable with both feet and in and around the box, he’s got a great shot with both feet as well.”
