Rovers’ Championship challenge will commence with a home clash with Blackpool.

Paul Dickov’s first competitive game in charge of Rovers will see him welcome Paul Ince’s Tangerines to the Keepmoat on August 3.

Rovers will be at home for the first games of the season with the Capital One Cup clash against Rochdale followed by the visit of Blackburn Rovers on August 17, the first meeting between the two clubs since 1970.

The first away trip of the campaign takes Rovers to relegated Wigan Athletic on Tuesday August 20.

A trip to Charlton and a home clash with fellow promoted side Bournemouth will complete Rovers’ August programme.

Rovers’ first Yorkshire derby of the season will see them travel to Huddersfield Town on September 14 with an away day at Sheffield Wednesday on September 28.

There will be a wait to welcome a Yorkshire rival to the Keepmoat with Leeds the first to visit on December 14, after Rovers’ trip to Barnsley on November 9.

Rovers’ supporters will spend the festive period at home with Ipswich Town visiting on Boxing Day and Millwall coming to town on December 29.

And it will be a New Year in the capital with a mouthwatering trip to Queens Park Rangers on January 1.

The season closes with a visit to Leicester City on May 3.
