Doncaster Rovers’ pre-season preparations begin in earnest tonight with their first friendly of the summer.

Paul Dickov will take a squad to Evo-Stik League outfit Frickley Athletic – the site of his first match as Rovers manager two years ago.

The friendly will likely give supporters their first opportunity to see the club’s four new signings in action for the first time in Rovers colours.

Thorsten Stuckmann, Richard Chaplow, Gary MacKenzie and Andy Williams are all primed for game time at Westfield Lane this evening.

Paul Keegan is likely to return to action for Rovers after making a full recovery from the knee injury which ended his season in early March.

Rovers are likely to field two different teams for each half, meaning many of the club’s promising young players will be given game time.

The first week of pre-season saw the squad taking part in intensive fitness work after completing tests on their return to Cantley Park.

The Frickley fixture will be the only game ahead of the training camp in southern Portugal.

Following the trip abroad, Rovers return for their programme of home friendlies, which commences with the visit of Nottingham Forest on July 21.

Admission to the game is £7 for adults, £5 for concessions and £3 for U16 with kick off at 7.30pm.
