Doncaster Rovers have signed Watford striker Uche Ikpeazu on loan until the end of the season.
Rovers say the 19-year-old has joined them “with a potential view to a move on a permanent basis”.
Ikpeazu scored for Crewe against Doncaster earlier this season when he impressed Rovers fans with his pace and power.
His loan with the Railwaymen was extended on Monday but he was recalled to Watford yesterday after Rovers firmed up their interest.
Ikpeazu will go straight into the squad for this weekend’s difficult trip to Chesterfield and will provide Theo Robinson, Nathan Tyson and Curtis Main will further competition for places.
Confirming the deal, Doncaster said on their website “the capture of the Watford striker underlines Rovers’ intentions for the season”
Ikpeazu signed a three-year deal with Watford in 2013 after graduating from Reading’s academy.
The London-born youngster scored 28 goals in 28 games for the Royals’ Under-18 side, which made him England’s top scorer at academy level in 2012/13.
