NEW signing Chris Brown has revealed how he jumped at the chance to sign for Doncaster Rovers.

The 26-year-old Doncaster-born striker penned a two-year deal at the Keepmoat Stadium on Thursday following his release from Preston North End.

He becomes Sean O’Driscoll’s fifth new signing of the summer, following the arrival of Richard Naylor, Kyle Bennett, Tommy Spurr and James Baxendale.

Brown, who scored 10 goals on loan for Rovers seven years ago, said: “I spoke to Sean last week and it’s been ongoing since but it was easy to make the decision to come back to Rovers.

“Phil Brown indicated he wanted me to stay but I wanted to see what was out there and as soon as Rovers came in I knew it was the only club I would leave for.

“I was surprised how at home I felt when I had a look round Doncaster and even more so when I met people like Dave Morris, Dave Richards and others like Steve Uttley, who were here when I was last at the club in 2004.

“I’ve been training on my own for a couple of weeks, so won’t play at Barrow as I need a couple of days training with the lads.

“Hopefully I’ll get to play at Mansfield on Tuesday night.”

Brown has been handed the Rovers number nine shirt for the new season.
