NICKY Ajose's late winner snatched all three points for Crawley and ended Rovers' winning start to the season.

Ajose was on hand to turn in Josh Simpson's effort on goal from close range in the 87th minute and seal victory in the first ever meeting between these two sides.

Rovers wasted chances to go ahead before the break but were nullified in the second half by a resilient Crawley outfit.

Billy Paynter should have done better from two yards out when he got on the end of David Cotterill's cross but his weak effort went straight at Town keeper Paul Jones.

Martin Woods tested Jones' handling with a volley from the edge of the box, while Paynter went close again when he curled an effort just wide of the post after cleverly fashioning a shooting chance.

A scrappy contest appeared to be heading for a stalemate as the home side ran out of attacking ideas following the withdrawal of in-form striker Chris Brown.

But a determined Crawley side had other ideas as Ajose tapped in from close range to condemn Doncaster to their first defeat of the campaign.
