NEW signing Robbie Blake has a touch of “genius”, according to Dean Saunders.
Blake agreed a one-year deal with Doncaster Rovers on Wednesday afternoon, following hot on the heels of the arrival of winger David Cotterill.
The 36-year-old frontman is reunited with his former Bradford City teammate Saunders after agreeing to extend his career at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Blake, who was released by Bolton Wanderes this summer, also has a further option to extend his stay at Doncaster beyond the summer of 2013.
Saunders told the Free Press: “Robbie Blake is blessed with talent.
“I know Robbie well having played alongside him at Bradford and he’s a genius at times.
“Obviously he’s at the other end of his career to David but we’ll get the fitness coach working with him and I’m confident he’ll be an asset for us in League One.
“He’s brilliant on the ball and still has an incredible appetite for the game.”
Blake made his breakthrough at Darlington before spells at Bradford, Burnley, Birmingham, Leeds and Bolton.
He offers Saunders various options in attack and can also operate in midfield.
