Some players have lucky and unlucky grounds; Lord only knows what Brighton’s Amex Stadium is to Billy Sharp!

Billy scored the first ever goal at Brighton’s new ground on the opening day of the 2011/12 season. But Rovers fans will remember only too well what happened next. He was stretchered off, Brighton came back to win, and the rest is history.

Billy might just want to set the record straight with the Seagulls this weekend.

He’s a proven goalscorer, he’s different class. He didn’t get much in the way of chances against Boro but he was a presence up front.

He was always trying to pressure the Boro defence into mistakes. He gambles on Browny’s flick-ons too which, on another day, may have fallen a bit kinder to him. But his chances will come.

He could’ve signed for a lot of clubs, so it speaks volumes that he has come back to Doncaster. He’s a top, top Championship goalscorer and his arrival has set the benchmark for the club in terms of the type of player they can attract.

For me, the defence looks solid at the moment. That has obviously helped Rovers claim their third clean sheet at home and eight points from a possible 12.

James Husband maybe doesn’t get the credit he deserves, I think he’s a super little player who plays beyond his years. He’s really looked the part since coming back from injury.

I’ve said it from the start, I think Rovers will stay up and I’m sticking to that. When everyone is back from injury, they’re a good side.

The injury to Paul Keegan is a concern, particularly as they won’t have Richie Wellens in the middle because of a two-game suspension.

It’s a good chance for Dean Furman, or somebody like Marc De Val, to come in and impress. I’ve heard the players speaking highly of De Val so hopefully he takes his chance if it comes to him.

Brighton will be a tough game. They’ve sold a couple of players in this window, but they are heading in the direction of the play-off places.

I don’t think a draw would be a bad result.
