Millwall is an absolutely enormous game for us, it’s a cup final - there’s no doubt about it.
Admittedly, the bad run of results has not come at the best of times but I am still not panicking and I don’t think the players and manager are either.
They know what they have to do. Their position in the table will be in their minds and they’ll be feeling the enormity of the remaining games but I think credit has to go to Paul Dickov because he continues to drill into the players the need to do the right things and the results will follow.
We didn’t play our best football against Ipswich, it was a poor result that put us right back in the mire. I think we missed Richie Wellens (pictured). But that has gone now and we need to focus on Derby County tomorrow night.
We have to get a result, it’s as simple as that.
The thing about Rovers this season has been that they’ve seemed to play much better against the better teams and that needs to happen again against Derby.
County are in the play-off spots and will be looking to keep the momentum going so it’s not going to be easy.
But getting something positive from tomorrow’s game at the Keepmoat could also act as another incentive because it could take the pressure off a little bit for the trip to Millwall on Monday.
And, yes, it’s all well and good playing better against stronger teams but we need to put in those types of performances against the teams in and around us - none more so than Millwall.
They’ll have home advantage and will be scrapping for their lives but as long as we play the way we can and tap into previous solid displays we’ve had this season, we’ll be okay.
We’ve got four games left and we need to focus on being positive in our performances. It’s not going to be an easy run-in but the likes of Reading and Leicester to come should suit Rovers because they’ve taken some impressive scalps off the top sides this season.
I don’t want to see it go down to the final game and I think four more points could be enough for us. I’ve said it time and time again but I really do believe we will stay up.
