Bucky’s Blog: Derby should provide inspiration for Doncaster Rovers

The result on Saturday was really poor to be honest.

The players really have to do more, because I genuinely believe we’ve got good enough players.

They must be lacking in confidence, but we really need to find some and start stringing a few results together.

We need to give the manager a good run at it this season. If we were in the bottom half after giving him the full season, fair enough, maybe even he might say that’s not good enough, but he needs a chance to build some momentum.

If players make basic errors and can’t concentrate at set-plays and the things you practice in training there is nothing any coach can do.

I’ll probably get some stick for saying this but if I was a betting man, I’d still back us to win this weekend.

We seem to play better in big games and local derbies and I don’t know why.

I’ve been in teams where you seem to really turn it on for the big occasions and I’d love to know why, but it just happens.

Let’s hope Curtis Main can come back in and really show that early season promise that we saw.

Even if he can’t play the full game on Saturday it’s worth getting him on.

I’m not just an ex-player, I’m also a fan and I’m desperate to see us do well.

We’ve got to get something on Saturday, even if it’s a draw, just don’t lose.

It’s one of those fixtures that if you get a result, with the postponed game next weekend you’ve got two weeks to work with it and take it forward.
