SEAN O’Driscoll has hinted at a summer of upheaval at Doncaster Rovers - claiming certain players have been at the club too long.
O’Driscoll wants to recruit at least five new faces for Rovers’ fourth season in the Championship.
Nine members of the current squad will see their contracts expire this summer, including Sam Hird, Wayne Thomas and James Chambers.
So, potentially, a wind of change could sweep through Doncaster over the next few months - although one thing O’Driscoll is determined to hold onto is the club’s “identity”.
O’Driscoll said: “The players are in the box seat.
“They’re the ones with contracts and they shape their own decisions.
“Unfortunately the tail wags the dog nowadays.
“But what I want is players I can trust.
“And I’d rather get players that play with an enthusiasm and a willingness to improve, rather than players that have probably been here too long.”
*The list of players published in today’s Free Press who are out-of-contract this summer should read as follows: Neil Sullivan, James Chambers, Sam Hird, Byron Webster, Ryan Burge, Steve Brooker, Dennis Souza, Wayne Thomas, Paul Keegan.
Dean Shiels and Waide Fairhurst are still under contract at the club.
