Sean O’Driscoll was examining the possibility of bringing in yet another player on loan today with top scorer Billy Sharp likely to be ruled out for the rest of the season.
Rovers’ 25-year-old talisman limped off in the second half of Tuesday night’s 1-1 home draw against fellow strugglers Coventry and was on crutches after the game.
Sharp needs a hernia operation but may have suffered further damage to his groin and was having a scan today to check if he is able to go ahead with the surgery this week.
Doncaster have only just got James Hayter fit again - and he turned up trumps after Sharp’s departure from the proceedings when he snatched the equaliser with only two minutes remaining.
But just as one or two players are starting to return to fitness then others are starting to pick up niggles and strains and three more were ruled out on Tuesday night causing O’Driscoll to make five changes to the side that lost 5-2 at Leeds United on Saturday.
