Doncaster Rovers Belles let a three-goal lead slip as they lost 4-3 to title-chasing Bristol Academy Women.
Jess Sigsworth, Millie Bright and Leandra Little all struck as they put Bristol’s hopes of league contention into doubt before half time.
However, Mark Sampson’s South Westerners put in a gritty second half performance to level the scores with a hat-trick from Natalia Sanchon and a further strike from Anne Marie Heatherson.
The Belles were good value in the first 45 and opened the scoring when Sigsworth found herself in a one-on-one situation with Siobhan Chamberlain and the England forward made no mistake as she slid home in the 34th minute.
A clever knock-down from Sue Smith then picked out her Doncaster team-mate Bright who timed her run beautifully, showed composure and nestled an effort into the bottom corner for 2-0.
Minutes later Bright turned provider as her searching ball fell into the path of skipper Little who steadied herself before lobbing Chamberlain.
But Bristol, who are chasing league leaders Liverpool for the title, gave themselves a huge lifeline as Spaniard Natalia Sanchon netted in the 47th minute.
The Academy struck again in the 65th minute when Natalia latched on to a lose ball the Belles failed to clear and drilled it into the corner.
Sub Anne-Marie Heatherson equalised with ten minutes to spare as she tapped in from close range for a dramatic finish at the Keepmoat.
Wild celebrations ensued from the Bristol bench as Natalia netted her third of the game with minutes to spare.
