EPWORTH Colts under-11 side entertained unbeaten top division league leaders Park Tigers in the Divisional Cup.
The colts gave a good account of themselves against a robust and well-organised side, creating several early opportunities to take the lead.
Eventually, however, the hosts lost 3-0 with central defender Aiden Woodcock being awarded man of the match.
Last weekend the visitors to Carrside were Scotter RDC under-11s.
The away team had done their homework and were a vastly improved side from the one Epworth beat 7-1 at Scotter earlier in the season.
Colts created several opportunities but nothing ran for the side with their opponents playing very deep and closing down Epworth strikers Callum Marsh and Kyle Blackburn.
The game was a scrappy affair with Scotter rarely threatening the Colts goal and with Epworth struggling to find space to break down the visitors.
Ben Dudley had an excellent game, causing Scotter problems down the right and he eventually created the opening goal. A determined run cut into the penalty area and his shot come cross bobbled past the keeper for Kyle Blackburn to tap in.
Callum Marsh won a late penalty but the Scotter keeper pulled off an excellent save and the game finished 1-0 to the Colts.
This maintained their top position in the league and their unbeaten league run.
Man of the match was awarded to Ben Dudley.
