It proved to be a good weekend for Doncaster clubs in the Central Midlands League Northern Division with all three sides in action claiming the spoils.

Bentley Colliery climbed into the top eight with a 3-1 win over Kinsley Boys.

Chris Scott was Colliery’s hat trick hero as they exchanged places with the West Yorkshire side.

Askern’s 3-2 win over sixth-placed Phoenix saw them climb out of the bottom two.

Thomas Dobbin, Brian Dickinson and Alex Rennie shared the goals as Askern picked up only their third league win of the season.

Fellow strugglers Brodsworth Welfare also picked up a rare win against Easington United, who replaced Askern in the bottom two.

Mel Cotton, Mark Vickerage and Wes Butler all netted in Welfare’s morale-boosting 3-0 win.

High-flying Thorne Colliery were in action in the Doncaster FA Cup where they booked their place in the last four of the competition with 5-1 extra-time win over South Kirkby Colliery.

Neil Sheppard bagged a brace for the winners with Brett Thomas, Josh Brentnall, Darren Fell and Luke Rafferty also chipping in with goals.
