DONCASTER Belles hope to carry on where they left off for tonight’s Super League visit to Everton, according to assistant boss Paul Green.
Vicky Exley’s goal at Lincoln last week, which earned the Belles a hard fought 1-0 win, gave Doncaster the perfect start to life in the new WSL.
And Green is hoping for the same sort of commitment tonight at the Arriva Stadium (7.45pm).
Green said: “We were delighted with the performance last week and it was a very, very good victory and an assured performance.
“We go into the game full of confidence after the Lincoln result and it’s up to the girls now to show consistency and get another positive result.
“Everton started the season as one of the fancied teams and they will be desperate to get a win after only getting a point at Liverpool last week, so we know it’s going to be a very difficult game.
“The most pleasing thing at Lincoln was the way we stuck to the game plan,” he added.
“We had an idea of how to combat the threat and the girls executed it to perfection on the night.
“We couldn’t have asked for anything else from the players from our opening game and if we play to a similar level against Everton, then we have a real chance of getting something.”
Defender Naomi Chadwick is fit again after a hamstring injury but boss John Buckley is likely to name an unchanged side for tonight’s trip to Merseyside.
