Doncaster Rovers Belles will step up their Super League preparations on Sunday (2pm) when Blackburn Rovers are the visitors to the Keepmoat Stadium - and boss John Buckley can hardly wait!
Buckley said: “It’s been a long winter without any football and it’s strange because the new season still feels a long way away.
“But we’re looking forward to Sunday and it’ll be a good test for us.
“Training’s been going well and we’ll be looking for the girls to put the things we’ve been working on into practice.
“We want to see that we’re making progress - although the result is not important.”
Swedish defender Maria Karlsson is a doubt for this weekend’s friendly clash against Premier League Rovers with a hamstring strain.
Entry to the game, to be played on pitch two, is £2 for adults and £1 for under 16s.
Children accompanied by an adult will be admitted free of charge.
n Belles have signed a two-year kit deal with Irish sportswear firm O’Neills.
Susie Robertson, O’Neills’ UK sales manager, said: “Doncaster Rovers Belles’ inclusion in the new Super League has been the result of sheer hard work and determination on their part over the years and it is thoroughly deserved.
“We’re thrilled to be part of it and will look to support the club all the way.”
