A night of celebration

Waiting for Video...

A NEW chapter was written into the storied history of the Doncaster and District Junior Sunday League last weekend with its first ever presentation night.

The winners and runners up from across three divisions and two age groups were present at the Keepmoat Stadium to receive their medals.

Record-breaking Armthorpe Rovers U15 picked up a fifth straight Premier Division trophy.

Rovers also won the League Cup and Goole and Thorne Cup this year, repeating an astonishing silverware treble they achieved in each of the four previous seasons.

Runners up Scawthorpe Scorpions needed to see off Branton Juniors 2-0 in a place off to seal second place after finishing level on points.

Division One champions West End Bentley U15 finished nine points clear of their nearest rivals as their miserly defence proved difficult to break down for the rest of field.

The division’s leading scorers Sprotbrough and Cusworth Crusaders finished in second place.

There were plenty of goals in Division Two which was won by South Kirkby Knights U15.

The Knights won 19 out of 21 games throughout the season, scoring an impressive 107 goals in the process.

That scoring feat was bettered however with second placed Edlington White Stars smashing in 114 over the league campaign.
