DANUM Eagles reclaimed top spot in the North East Premier Conference with an emphatic 100-33 drubbing of Leeds Tigers.
In typical fashion, the young Eagles executed effectively from the tip-off to start the game with a basket - and they did not look back.
The Doncaster side ran up an impressive lead and held the Tigers to a measly five points in the first quarter to lead 31-5.
It was in the second half when the Eagles showed their class, gradually increasing their lead and maintaining their composure.
The Tigers seemed to lose all self-belief and there was never any hint of a comeback after Danum halted Leeds’ only flurry of baskets.
Liam Knapp top scored with 44 points, Conner Pugh added 28, while Nick Burgin chipped in with 14.
n Eagles’ U18 side crashed to a 77-56 defeat away to Northants Moulton.
The defeat was only Danum’s second loss of the season and was something of a shock after the same squad defeated Northants by a 45-point margin earlier in the season.
It was clear from the start that Northants were out to avenge that loss and the hosts played aggressively and with purpose throughout.
A number of second half turnovers allowed Northants to run away with the lead and the Eagles could not recover.
Scorers: Ryan Fisher 20, Darius Inniss 12, Josh Thickett 9, Luke Blay 8.
The under 18s, second in the table behind Derby, are at home to Notts Nova Centurion on Sunday at Danum School (noon).
