THE Dons’s six game winning streak in Championship One came to an end as they slipped to a 45-18 defeat at fellow promotion contenders Workington Town.

And the loss in Cumbria was enough to topple Doncaster from the top of the table.

While Tony Miller’s side have been the division’s purveyors of free-scoring rugby throughout the season so far, it was their hosts who caught the try bug.

Town’s Elliott Miller scored a hat trick with Jarrad Stack adding a brace.

Daniel Rooney, Brett Carter, Jamie Thackray and debutant Mark Calderwood also went over for Workington.

Stewart Sanderson, Mick Butterfield and Lee Waterman scored the Dons’ tries with Tom Hodson converting all three.

The Dons are back on the road on Sunday when they visit struggling North Wales Crusaders.
