Rotherham United have confirmed the signing of former Doncaster Rovers midfielder Paul Green.
The 31-year-old Republic of Ireland international has agreed a two-year deal at the New York Stadium following his release by Leeds United.
“We are delighted to have signed Paul after several chats with his representatives,” Millers boss Steve Evans said of his 11th signing of the summer.
“The lad had a magnificent finish to the season with Ipswich Town so it wasn’t a surprise to find there was significant interest in him, so we are very pleased to add him to our squad.
“I think the lure of Championship football, knowing what we are about as a football club and our magnificent stadium all helped to convince him that this was the club for him.
“Paul is a full international, he has just returned from an end of season trip with Martin O’Neill’s Republic of Ireland, so he will be given a few more days to recuperate.
“He has been down here today to finalise the deal and have his medical but he won’t officially begin work with us until Monday next week.”
Pontefract-born Green came through Doncaster’s youth system before making 277 senior appearances for Rovers as they rose back up the Football League ladder.
He joined Derby County in 2008 and made 143 appearances for the Rams, netting 13 goals, before switching to Leeds two years ago.
Finding his first team options limited, Green joined Ipswich on loan in February and finished last season with the Tractor Boys.
