THE Dons were no match for their Super League opponents in their first pre-season friendly but there were plenty of encouraging signs to come out of the game despite the scoreline.
Hull built up a 32-0 interval lead and ran in ten tries altogether but the Dons new-look side battled all the way and showed plenty of spirit in front of a crowd of 1,924 spectators.
Lee Gomersall and Paul Hughes were unlucky to have tries disallowed on two of the rare occasions the Dons managed to penetrate Hull's rock solid defence.
The Super League team was ultimately just too classy and powerful but Tony Miller's men looked in tremendous shape and matched their illustrious opponents when it came to fitness as they dominated the final quarter of the game with new boys Kyle Sampson, Stu Sanderson and Adam Scott all in promising form.
