Town retain title in 20/20 competition

DONCASTER Town retained the Division 1 title of the Doncaster and District Infirmary Evening 20/20 Cricket League after their final game with rivals Conisbrough was affected by rain, leaving both teams with a point each.

One match which escaped the weather was in Division 2, where Yorkshire Main had a two wickets victory over Hatfield Open.

Dave Marsden captured a hat trick for Main, finishing with figures of three victims for two runs and, with Darren Underwood, who captured 3-7, put Open back in the pavilion for 72, Tahir (20) and Hogg (17) being top scorers.

Runs proved difficult for Main, but Danny Briggs (16) and Martin Spavin (15) edged them to 76-8.

Tahir claimed 3-16 and Mahmood 2-20.

Brodsworth Main are the Division 2 champions, winning all their matches, with Bentley Col finishing well clear at the top of Division 3.
