DONCASTER Town’s hopes of reaching Lords in the ECB National Club Championship came to an abrupt halt on Sunday when they suffered a comprehensive seven wicket defeat at Cuckney.

James Dobson (41) and Ryan Capstick (41no) top scored as Doncaster posted 170-9 from their 45 overs.

But the total posed no problem whatsoever for Cuckney, of the Nottinghamshire Premier League. who raced to victory inside 25 overs.

Opener Adam Burgess carried his bat for 76, while Richard Stroh also struck 52 as the hosts ran out easy winners in the third round tie.

Town are also still looking for their first win in the ECB Yorkshire Premier League after losing at home to Sheffield Collegiate on Saturday.

Yorkshire’s Joe Root hit 93 with the bat and then collected two wickets for good measure in a 33-run win for Collegiate.
