GORDON Laidlaw guided Sprotbrough to a comfortable seven wicket win at Askern Welfare in Division Two - and then celebrated an England call-up!
Laidlaw made a solid 59 to see his side to 149-3 after the hosts were sent back for 147.
Dave Meggitt (28) and David Longley (21) top scored for Askern, with Tim Braithwaite taking 4-14 for Sprotbrough, who were never in danger of not reaching their target.
Laidlaw will make his debut for England’s disabled team against a Sussex XI at Hove next Wednesday.
