Australian Michael Topp claimed his second five-wicket haul in successive weekends but could not prevent Doncaster Town losing their rain-affected ECB Yorkshire South Premier League trip to Wickersley Old Village.
On the back of their comprehensive opening day win over Rotherham, Town would have fancied their chances of reaching a Duckworth Lewis revised score of 166 at Northfield Lane.
But Luke Townsend’s men struggled with the bat and closed 46 runs short of their target.
Topp (5-20) and Townsend (3-48) combined to restrict Wickersley to 147-8 in an innings interrupted by rain and a game thus reduced to 32 overs a side.
The home side were 97-1 following a stand of 78 runs for the second wicket between Mark Cummings (30) and Shahjahan Younis (53) but their dismissals sparked an almighty collapse to 119-7 before a late rally.
Graeme Attenborough (26) and James Ward (25) helped to get Town’s innings off to a good start but both were removed by former Rotherham man Vinnie Ogden.
The accuracy of Iftikhar Afzal then restricted the middle order and reduced Doncaster to 120-7 at the close. Afzal returned 4-27.
