Cricket: Sprotbrough and Warmsworth in race for promotion, Tickhill cut further adrift

Sprotbrough stayed ahead of Warmsworth in the race for promotion from Division One of the South Yorkshire League by easing to victory against Norton Oakes.

Robert Edmundson claimed Sprotbrough’s best analysis with 3-15 as the visitors posted just 87 all out.

After losing two wickets Charlie Kaye (39no) and stumper Tom Kaye (25no) saw the home side to victory.

Third-placed Warmsworth fell two points behind their Doncaster neighbours after beaing Coal Aston at Common Lane but failing to bowl them out.

Lawrence Browes (87) powered the visitors to 222-8, while Richard Marshall claimed 4-43.

Liam Marshall (44), Josh Matthews (55) and Ryan Pearson (61no) guided Warmsworth to a three wicket win.

n Relegation-threatened Tickhill were cut further adrift following a five wicket defeat to Barnsley in the ECB Yorkshire South Premier League.

James Doyle struck 48 in Tickhill’s 159 all out, which Barnsley knocked off in 44.3 overs. Tickhill are now 18 points away from safety.
